CleopatraRX™ and Dr. Rhonda Voskuhl Featured in Los Angeles Magazine for Oprah Winfrey’s “The Menopause Revolution”
March 28, 2025
Dr. Rhonda Voskuhl, founder and medical advisor to CleopatraRX™ and inventor of PearlPAK®, is featured in Los Angeles Magazine‘s March 2025 coverage of “Oprah and The Menopause Revolution”, the ABC primetime special shedding light on the long-overlooked realities of menopause. The article underscores Dr. Voskuhl’s groundbreaking work in the neurobiology of estrogen and her pioneering approach to hormone therapy, which has the potential to reshape how we treat cognitive aging in women.
“There are structural and functional changes in the brain that occur with menopause,” Voskuhl tells Los Angeles. “Hot flashes go away after three to five years. But these cognitive problems, they actually get worse … you’ve got to catch these things early.”
With more than two-thirds of Alzheimer’s patients being women, the stakes are profound. Voskuhl’s research is at the center of a new scientific understanding of how estrogen, specifically the right kind of estrogen, can protect the brain.
“It became clear to me that there’s something very neuroprotective, very good for the brain, about estrogen,” says Voskuhl. “I saw in MS women that we could get an improvement in cognition – not just a slowing of the decline. We can see prevention of brain atrophy, and we could also see reduction in a neurodegenerative marker in the blood – all basically within one year of treatment with this novel estrogen. I said, ‘Wow, can we take this to menopause?’”
CleopatraRX’s PearlPAK® is built around that novel estrogen – estriol, a unique compound that’s been used in Europe for over 40 years, and is now licensed by CleopatraRX in the U.S.
As Los Angeles Magazine and Oprah’s special both emphasize, this cultural and clinical shift is long overdue. CleopatraRX is at the forefront using science, safety, and specificity to redefine menopause care for women across the country.
